There is so much in the press at the moment about well-being, never before has mental health been so important. The effects of the pandemic having far reaching consequences and current statistics on the subject are scary.
1 in 8 children have a mental health condition
75% of young people with mental health problems aren't being treated
50% of all mental health problems emerge by age 14
Fortunately, awareness regarding the importance of mental health has led to a huge increase in resources available for parents on the topic. How you help your child with their well-being is both a personal choice and dependent on their own personality. Buzz words such as mindfulness, meditation, resilience, emotional intelligence and positive self esteem, are now talked about on a regular basis; with more schools promoting well-being within schools.
There is plenty of research into the benefits of meditation and mindfulness for children and helping them develop habits such as mediation from a young age can be beneficial. At our recent holiday camp we looked at mindfulness through a series of short videos and a workbook. Our workbook with accompanying videos can be found below
. We hope you find it useful!
